I thoroughly enjoyed this short read!!! I have studied French for three years and this book was a great tool for me to come more acquainted with the French language and culture. As I read, I found myself recognizing vocab and becoming acquainted with new words/phrases as well. One aspect of this book that I find super helpful is Its flexible formatting of back to back passages of English and French languages. I loved how this formatting is structured to help learners compare and contrast the languages. The audio file accompanying this book also pairs an English story to its French counterpart in a brilliant way and allows the language learners to further their listening/audio recognition. This is a very interesting layout that I believe is very successful in expanding the learner’s knowledge of both languages! Anyone who is learning French or English or has an interest in French/English fairy tales should read this book.
I gave this a go to work on my French and really enjoyed it. Few of the fairy tales had some references to ‘killing’ and ‘death’ that some parents might find disconcerting (if anyone was looking to get this for their kid), but it isn’t explicit at all.Would recommend. :)
My favorite fairytafle in the book is Blue Bird. Great for kids and adults
