Although the book is belabored with Contemporary Academic Jargon, the author is very acquainted with Golden Age porn and it’s stag film antecedents. His thesis is fairly novel: that the viewing of these “old†films today enable the viewer to time-travel existentially.
A lumbering slog of a read that appears to be a degree thesis. He shares a history of early stag films from about the 195's mentioning rare early titles and explains that due to legal issues they are rare finds due to copyright infringement and due to concerns of content they are somewhat frowned upon for rescue from the dust bin of history though it sounds like he has partaken of the material and is able to expound upon the content as some of it is housed at a college.The content is rescued by the occasional intermixing of frames from mentioned films which contain bare skin and also ads for films which provide insight as to how they were marketed. Some swearing. Occasional insight.
